ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Robin is a software developer and independent app maker who has built web applications for organisations including The Guardian and the British Council. After years working as a developer, he switched gears to make his own apps and SaaS products. Last year, Robin and his partner vibe coded Table Read Studio, an app for screenwriters and filmmakers that went on to win an award at the world’s largest hackathon, which had over 100,000 participants. The app was recognised as the “most uniquely useful tool”. Robin is currently developing a number of products including Table Read Studio, Self-Tape Studio, and Kalbukas, a language learning app.

Vibe Coding Apps for Beginners

You do not need to be technical to start building. OVERVIEW AI has changed who gets to create software. With the right tools, prompts and guidance, people who have never written code before can now build simple apps, test ideas, prototype products and explore what is possible much faster than ever before. This hands-on workshop introduces vibe coding, a practical way of using AI to help turn ideas into working apps. Participants will be guided through the basics of building an app using AI, starting from the very beginning. The session will cover which tools to use, how to describe what you want to build, how to write effective prompts, how to refine the output, and how to move from an idea to something that works. The workshop will also explore what becomes possible when apps are built on blockchain rails, including miniapps, decentralised social features, crypto and stablecoin payments, and new types of digital products that are difficult to build using traditional app models alone. The session is designed for complete beginners, but more experienced attendees will also have space to explore bigger ideas, ask deeper questions and think about how AI-assisted development and blockchain-enabled apps could support real products, experiments or ventures. WHAT PARTICIPANTS WILL EXPLORE How AI can help non-technical people build apps What vibe coding is and how to get started Which AI tools are useful for building apps How to write prompts that turn an idea into a working prototype How to refine, test and improve what AI creates What miniapps are and how they work on decentralised rails How decentralised features such as social media, identity or payments can be integrated How crypto and stablecoin payments can open up new app ideas What blockchain apps can do that traditional apps cannot The limitations, risks and practical realities of building with AI and blockchain tools WHO IT IS FOR This workshop is for anyone curious about building apps with AI, whether they are completely new to technology or already experimenting with new tools. It will be especially useful for students and early-career learners interested in AI, apps or blockchain, founders who want to prototype ideas quickly, business leaders who want to understand what AI-assisted development makes possible, product managers, designers and creatives exploring new ways to build, developers curious about AI-assisted workflows, and anyone with an idea for an app but no idea where to start. EXPERIENCE LEVEL This is a beginner-friendly workshop with room for more advanced questions. You do not need to know how to code. You do not need to have built an app before. You do not need to have used AI before. The session will start from the basics and guide participants step by step. More experienced attendees will be able to explore more ambitious ideas, deeper blockchain use cases and practical questions around building, testing and launching. PRACTICAL DETAILS Attendees should bring a laptop. You can attend just to listen and take notes, but you will get the most from the workshop if you are able to follow along and try things during the session. You may need an AI subscription if you want to build something larger in one go, but the workshop will also show how to minimise costs and do a lot for free.
